Four problems every enterprise platform shares
Whatever platform your company runs on, the same four problems show up after two or three years. They are not signs of a bad setup. They are what happens when a system grows with the business.
1. Paying for what nobody uses
Seats, roles and storage are bought for a plan. People change jobs, projects end, and integrations create extra accounts. Check three things first: users with no login in 90 days, expensive roles held by people who only approve requests, and accounts that belong to people who have left.
2. Clutter that slows every change
Unused fields, flows, scripts and apps make every new change harder to judge. A 2026 survey of Salesforce admins found that 56.3% name technical debt as their biggest challenge, and only about 2% call their org clean. The same pattern appears on every platform that allows customization.
3. Updates that surprise you
Each vendor tests its own software. Nobody tests your configuration, your integrations or your roles. That is your job, and it comes round on every release.
4. Access nobody has reviewed
Roles and permissions build up over the years. Departed employees leave behind accounts, and on low-code platforms they leave apps and automations that still run with their connections.
A simple way to start
Write the four problems on one page. Give each an owner, and choose one number to track for each, such as idle seats, unused fields, untested processes and unreviewed roles. Review the page every quarter. You will find savings and risks you could not see before.
If you want a second pair of eyes, our ServiceNow accelerators cover these four problems on ServiceNow, and we run discovery sessions for Salesforce and Microsoft Power Platform teams.
